TO US ART IS AN ADVENTURE INTO AN UNKNOWN WORLD, WHICH CAN BE EXPLORED ONLY BY THOSE WILLING TO TAKE THE RISKS.

(A. Gottlieb, M. Rothko, Letter to Edward Alden Jewell, June 7, 1943).

ART IS NOT.

For me Art is not circular and imperishable, it is not a Darwinian journey of the eye or of the spirit, it is not confrontation, rivalry, juxtaposition or similarity; it is not revolution, aesthetic attitude, interpretation of a social and cultural temperament, nor is it a phenomenon of custom. It is not Art in the strict sense of the word, technique, perspective or the death of the same; it is not colour, flavour, form or line and it is certainly not the process of someone creating something. It is not institutionalised, the Underground, the hyper-contemporary, the Classic Contemporary, the Modern, the Medieval, the Abstract, the Concrete, the Pop, the Minimal, Expressionism, Impressionism, Realism, it is no -ism, but neither is it the demolition of -isms.

ART IS.

For me Art is a disordered configuration of segments - which are the artists and their works - of which there is certainly a beginning and an end, each oriented in a different way so that, sometimes, on purpose or by chance, two of these segments touch at a point, before continuing on their respective trajectories without ever meeting again. In that moment, made up of just a few points common to these two absolutely different and irreconcilable before-and-after elements, the artistic fact takes place, that instant of magic that connects in a totally irrational way the cave paintings of the Lascaux to Jeff Koons' balloon dogs through an infinite series of links involving, from time to time, artists, works, experiences, experimentations and cultural climates. Art seeks to break out of the narrative by macro-themes by emphasising short episodes capable of creating a thread as long as human history.

curating an exhibition, a fair booth, or the work of an artist offers new keys to better convey one's work and open up new horizons like a trigger.
