BI(bli)OGRAPHY

In November 2025 is released the book Paolo Di Paolo. Incontri impossibili, curated by Silvia Di Paolo and published by Electa, in which I wrote the section on artist biographies featured in the volume.

At the beginning of the year I curated Felice Levini. Progettare il Caos, for Mattatoio di Roma in collaboration with Azienda Speciale Palaexpo.

In October 2024, I collaborated with Operativa Arte Contemporanea on the exhibition-dialogue Felice Levini - Salvo. Fuori da me stesso.

In 2023, a fruitful collaboration began with the Hypermaremma Festival, for which I held the position of Project manager for the 5th and 6th editions, featuring numerous Italian and international artists: Carola Bonfili, Davide Rivalta, Gaetano Pompa, Giulia Mangoni, Maria Loboda, and Mauro Staccioli. I continued my writing and curatorial work writing Di sabbia, nebbia e altre avventure sotterranee, critical text accompanying Marco Emmanuele's solo exhibition LA LUPA (PANORAMA) at the Galleria Daniele Agostini in Lugano and in the same year, I contributed to the catalogue published by Lorenzelli Arte (Milan) entitled Luce e suono. L'utopia di Piero Fogliati.

In these years I intensified my relations with Galleria D'Arte Niccoli with the curatorship of many fair booths in ArteFiera Bologna (Memoria e Materia, 2022), Flashback Turin (Felice Levini 2021, Nicus Lucà 2022, Piero Fogliati 2023), Roma Arte in Nuvola and ArtVerona (Jessica Wilson 2022). I began a writing collaboration for Hypermaremma through a series of interviews conducted on the pages of the magazine InsideArt with the artists participating in the initiative. In summer 2022 I worked, for Mattia De Luca and with Marilena Pasquali, on the realisation of the exhibition GIORGIO MORANDI | Il tempo sospeso at Galleria Mattia De Luca.

The year 2022 ended with the creation for Galleria Mattia De Luca, together with the art historian Marco Zindato, of an exhibition project for young artists and middle careers: DL projects. I curated the opening exhibition of this section with Jodie Petrosino, La Fortuna della Fragilità, focused on the artists Marcela Calderón Andrade and Tommaso Spazzini Villa, and contributed to the curatorship of the catalogue, to which I made a four-handed contribution with Zindato.

After working at the Bio-iconographic Archive of the Galleria Nazionale in Rome, in October 2021 I collaborated with and for Mattia De Luca in the curatorship of the retrospective CONRAD MARCA-RELLI | Il Maestro Irascibile dedicated by the Galleria Mattia De Luca (Rome) to the Italian-American master in collaboration with the artist's Archive. For the same exhibition I realised, together with David Anfam, the critical contributions of the catalogue, published in the summer of the same year by Skirà. In December 2021, I wrote the critical text for the exhibition Marco Emmanuele - Un Raggio Verde realised by Operativa Arte Contemporanea.

I'm Massimo Belli (Rome, 1995), an art historian and independent curator who graduated at the University La Sapienza in Rome in 2021 with a thesis on the abstract expressionist Conrad Marca-Relli, realised with Claudio Zambianchi and Ilaria Schiaffini and thanks to the fundamental contribution of the Galleria d'Arte Niccoli.
